=>TACTICS 1FTP RIDER: Team riders back Tactics and we back them; just as importantly, they are philosophically aligned with our company and want to support and promote our 1% For The Planet environmental grants program. In turn, we want to highlight these riders not only as professional athletes, but as thoughtful spokespersons for environmental responsibility. Just as Tactics walks the walk by giving away 1% of our sales to environmental groups, our 1FTP riders are committed to being advocates for living green.

  • When did you decide in your career/as an athlete that it was crucial to give back to the planet? What does 1% For The Planet mean to you?
    • I’ve always been passionate about the environment growing up. The ocean and mountains are in our backyard we need to protect the things we love. One planet, one you. Make a change! 1% FTP is what it’s all about, making positive impact worldwide.
  • What are some of your most recent environmental projects? Any in the near future?
    • Supporting the Sierra Club/ Protect Our Winters No Bass Coal campaign. Water Innovation Now commercial for the Action Sports Environmental Coalition (ASEC) Climate Change film for the National Academy of Sciences.
  • How has your winter been? (We hear you’ve been filming with TGR and Jeremy Jones)
    • The winter has been fantastic. There’s a great crew involved with Deeper. The sky’s the limit. Be on the lookout for Deeper webisodes dropping every month on the TGR website.
  • Do you feel your voice as an ambassador of 1FTP has initiated change? Is there anything else you’d like to accomplish?
    • Hope it’s gaining awareness. As a athlete we have a great sphere of influence on not only our sport but also the general public. We see the changes of our environment firsthand. More environmental consciousness in action sports needs to happen for sure. Now is the time.
  • Why made you decide to change from conventional contest snowboarder to an avid backcountry rider?
    • One word. Powder!
  • Tell us more about your splitboarding endeavors.
    • It’s amazing what splitboards can do. There like all terrain vehicles you can go anywhere you want on those things. Checkout Transworlds website soon for a cool trip we did last season. 70 miles in 8 days!
