Jake Gascoyne, it’s official

By Benson | July 23, 2009

We’ve been hyping him up for the past week, but now it’s official: Jake Gascoyne is on the Tactics skate team

I didn’t know what to expect the first time I skated with him.  I picked him up and we went to the High Priestess flat bar to shoot some flicks of tricks he’d already filmed.  While setting up my gear, I noticed Jake warming up, posing tricks (trying to lock into a trick, but not necesarily trying to land it), and just rolling around the spot.  Once my flashes were set up, he was still warming up and I honestly thought there was no way he was going to get anything during the session; it looked like he wasn’t really trying.  A couple minutes later and he’d rolled away from a switch crook and a back smith.  I thought, “Dang, this kid’s good, and humble… and good.”  We packed up, rolled to the Kendall gap where he proceeded to throw down a switch varial heel within ten minutes.

If you read the Grind, you probably already saw the photos…and if you don’t, well they’re in the post just below.  All in all, Jake’s a cool cat and I’m hyped he’s on the Tactics team.  Stay tuned for more photos cause Jake is constantly skating and stacking the footage.

Again, Jake, welcome to the team!
