Brand Spotlight: Niche Snowboards
We are very pleased to announce that we will be bringing Niche Snowboards for their debut season next year. Niche is a brand spankin’ new company out of Salt Lake City Utah and their primary goal is to make snowboards you can feel good about. When you get down to it, modern snowboard construction is TOXIC! But it doesn’t have to be. The boys and girls over at Niche have dug deep to find technologies, materials, and processes that have a minimal impact on our environment, are sustainable, and will continue to be available even after oil is a thing of the past.
Niche has a ton of alternative technologies they use in their boards but these are just a couple of our favorites. They partnered with Entropy Resins to create a one-of-a-kind Bio-Resin called Snappy Sap™. Unlike traditional epoxies made primarily of petroleum-based materials, their Bio-Resin is composed of bio-renewable materials from the industrial waste streams of the paper pulp and bio-fuels industry. Niche has also eliminated fiberglass, replacing it with Magma Fiber™ crafted from basalt. Basalt is the product of volcanoes. The fiberization process is environmentally safer than that of glass fiber because the greenhouse gases that might otherwise be released during the fiber processing were released eons ago during the magma eruption. Basalt is also 100% inert, which means it has no toxic reaction with air or water, and is noncombustible. Pretty cool sh*t!
But Niche doesn’t just care about the environment, they also care about snowboarders! They understand that after food, rent, and getting gauged big time for your season pass most riders don’t have a lot of extra cash floating around for a new board. That’s why they make these boards affordable to the everyman. All the cutting edge technology, camber profiles, and performance you would expect from a $700+ board but with a price tag well under $550! We don’t know how they do it but we are backing it bigtime! Just ask any of our shop staff or team riders, who demoed these boards and didn’t shut the hell up till we placed an order for more.
Look for these boards to hit our shelves early next season but in the mean time here is a little youtube review to fill in some of the details.
